Uniden BearTracker Mobile Tracking Scanner with GPS Support – Black (BCT15X) Review
For the last six years, I have been using one of the Uniden older scanning models, have served me well, and must admit one of the best scanners I have owned. As technology changes, you are looking for more when it comes to CB radios and that is when I heard about the Uniden BearTracker Mobile Tracking Scanner with GPS Support – Black (BCT15X).
The fact that many have said it is an ugly scanner does not scare me off it is the fact that it has all the features of my old scanner and more including 2500 memory and this made my ears pick up and taking notice. Built on the same structure as my old one and quite surprised when I received it.
The package deal of the Uniden BCT15X
The first thing I noticed when receiving the Uniden BCT15X was all the accessories provided from the AD-12009 AC Adapter, the three wire DC power cord, a cigarette lighter adapter, power cord, mounting bracket, a push-on telescopic antenna, supplied PC to Scanner serial cable and the owner’s manual.
The design
As mentioned earlier, many complained that the BCT15X is ugly; however, I like the look especially when taking it out of the box and looks state of the art and business like. It comes in a slim, elongated design when compared next to my other scanner. It has two knobs on the left sides of the scanners that consist of a volume and squelch setting. Even the display viewed from any angle, provides clarity, and holds plenty of information from the frequency, tone, and more. The display comes in a bright orange color and bright enough to see and offers you with a multitude of features. It comes with various quick keys that provide various tasks such as scanning, programming, holding, searching, and more.
Even the supplied rotary knob is great to scroll groups, memories, menu selection, systems and more. Below the rotary knob, you have a slot for plugging in the computer cable for programming and available with an earphone socket.
Features that stand out for me
What I like about the BCT15X scanner is that it comes with a 100 quick key system and each group provided with a number set to one of the keys and easily pressed to activate or deactivate the group and helps when monitoring systems assigned to them.
You can also assign each system with a hold time that ranges from 0 – 255 and means that the more you increase the system hold time increases the amount of time in seconds the systems scanned before moving on to the next system.
It also comes with BearTracker™ warning system allowing the police cars to omit frequencies from their vehicle warning of any emergencies in certain ranges. One of the other great features is the Close Call™ RF Capture Technology feature that tunes into nearby radio communications while at shopping malls and security guards start communicating with their radios it will instantly tune up into their conversation and can be set up with an alert.

Customer Reviews
When I was busy deciding if I wanted to buy the BCT15X scanner I read many customer reviews provided by Amazon. More than 200 customers have bought the scanner and pleased with the product, especially when it comes to the great features offered.
Another client advised that the scanner is functioning well when it comes to his requirements. It has many features offered where some of them not used now and only using the CTCSS/DCS decoding and reading functions and handy. He also said that it helps when in need of knowing something about a carrier. The sensitivity is excellent and the IM rejections great! He uses it to program all needed channels and searches, even the mobile mounting hardware, and provided cables is a plus. You cannot beat the price and affordable to buy when it comes to usability.

Cons
I found no problems while using the Uniden BCT15X although many complained the scanner is ugly and difficult to program. I found programming it through my PC easier than doing it on the scanner itself.
