Uniden BCD536HP Digital Phase 2 Base Mobile Scanner with HPDB and Wi-Fi Review

I have bought myself a Uniden BCD536HP Digital Phase 2 Base Mobile Scanner with HPDB and Wi-Fi and have now had it for two weeks and thought as I have read so many reviews regarding the CB why not share my own with all of you out there looking to buy one for them. I decided that it was time to upgrade from my Home Patrol 1 Extreme to this new scanner and until now has outperformed it on every level thinkable.

In the box

As many out there I ordered mine from Amazon and received it the following day and once opening the box to find that it had the following included; antenna, the Uniden BCD536HP, a DC power adapter, AC adapter, a USB cable, a three-wire harness, mounting brackets, and hardware.

According to the manufacturer another reason that I opted for buying this radio is the fact that they claimed it to be the flagship of mobile scanners and the only one available on the market that will be offering you with wireless availability in the future. The radio is very simple to use, if you are a newbie to setting up scanning CB radios. I mounted in my vehicle powered it up, set the time and date, then inserted my zip code and in a few seconds it loads all the appropriate information and you are scanning the local traffic, police, fire, HAM, railroads, you name it and it does it for you.

I love new technology and enjoy playing around with it so the next feature is one that I love the most and is the fact that you can attach the GPS receiver and as I am driving, the receiver sees the location and automatically loads the service I want without any effort.

Added Sentinel Software

To fully utilize the Uniden BCD536HP Scanner you need to use it with the included Sentinel software as it allows you to create a favorites list, you can re-write the site and talk group labels, you can insert LED or audio alerts for individual talk groups, and much more. The favorite list is even printable as it goes with creating many favorites, you forget what you have selected as a favorite, and the printed version allows you to remember.

Replay Transmissions

The CB comes with replay features that act as an instant replay of the transmissions you have heard. You can set how long a period replay record for instantaneous playback. This period ranges up to 4 minutes. You can replay the recording immediately and carry on replaying it, although you cannot save it for future listening.

Record Transmissions

With your BCD536HP scanner, you can record transmissions. When you start recording, your scanner adds the replay-recording buffer to the recording. The recordings saved and replayed when you want to listen to it. You can also rename and delete these recordings through the Review Recording submenu.

• The majority of complaints are all the features that are not available to use, but think of it this way by the time they have all these features in place you already have an updated CB radio that handles all those functions. Where other CB manufacturers are still going to go through the teething pains of having the Wi-Fi functions work properly, you already have a CB that does all those functions.
